Job Title: Deputy Chief Medical Officer (Professional Affairs)

Start Date: 1st October 2026

Contract Type: Fixed Term

Duration: 6 months

Main duties of the job

We are looking for expressions of interest for a Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO), responsible for Professional Affairs, plus support for additional, specific aspects of the CMO portfolio as required and with mutual agreement.

This is an interim appointment for 6 months, to commence 1st October 2026.

We are looking for an individual with significant clinical leadership experience and a reputation for compassionate and inclusive leadership.

The job description for the post is attached, this role offers the opportunity to support the priorities of the CMO, including clinical strategies and promotion of inclusivity and diversity at all levels in UHS. The role will be required to deputise for the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and will take the lead on the professional affairs agenda on behalf of the CMO, acting as the Case Manager on medical employee relations issues. The post holder will also take on the role as deputy Responsible Officer and will have a focus on medical appraisals.
