Job Overview
We are seeking an inspirational and compassionate senior doctor to join our Chief Medical Officer team as Deputy Chief Medical Officer (Professional Practice and Support). This senior leadership role includes Responsible Officer duties and offers a unique opportunity for a Consultant, Specialist or Specialty Doctor, or General Practitioner with a passion for supporting doctors, strengthening professional standards and influencing organisational culture.
Main duties of the job
Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer, you will lead the Trust's approach to medical appraisal, revalidation, professional standards, mentoring and medical workforce support. You will play a key role in ensuring doctors are well supported throughout their careers, promoting organisational learning, and fostering a just, compassionate and high-performing medical culture.
The role comprises 6 programmed activities dedicated to medical leadership and Responsible Officer responsibilities, attracts a 20% responsibility allowance, and offers the opportunity to maintain clinical practice if desired. You will be supported by a dedicated administration team and will recruit a Deputy Responsible Officer to further strengthen the Trust's professional standards infrastructure.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes Hospital.

Although we are a registered sponsor organisation, we are unable to offer sponsorship for all job roles. Please check your eligibility under the UKVI points-based system. When calculating the basic salary for sponsorship, HCAS (High-Cost Area Supplement) is not included to ensure fairness and consistency within our Trust.
