Role Overview
HeliosX is hiring a Deputy Chief Pharmacist, on a fixed-term contract, to be responsible for deputising for the Chief Pharmacist & providing clinical leadership across HeliosX's digital pharmacy operations. The postholder will be a GPhC registered pharmacist with extensive experience in digital healthcare & a strong working knowledge of pharmacy regulation, including direct experience supporting a digital pharmacy to apply GPhC standards for the safe & effective delivery of pharmacy services at a distance.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
- Deputise for the Chief Pharmacist, providing clinical leadership across the Pharmacy Operations team
- Lead clinical audits, risk management assessments and safety error-reporting frameworks
- Act as a source of clinical and regulatory expertise for the wider pharmacist team
- Support ongoing regulatory and inspection readiness, ensuring required evidence, actions, and improvement plans are maintained and embedded following inspections or regulatory feedback
- Represent HeliosX at external professional groups and meetings

Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Monitor clinical standards across the organisation
- Ensure the organisation meets statutory and regulatory requirements, including GPhC standards for pharmacy services delivered at a distance
- Work cross-functionally with Prescribing, Product, Operations, Customer Support, and Governance to resolve pharmacy-related patient-safety risks and implement safe process improvements
- Maintain ownership of formal pharmacy complaints, managing resolution and learning
- Lead investigations into regulatory concerns and coordinate formal responses with regulatory bodies
Clinical Audits
- Coordinate and review clinical audits to measure current practice against agreed professional standards
- Identify and follow up on findings, ensuring timely and structured resolution
Policy Development
- Help write, update and implement clinical policies and guidelines based on national standards and up-to-date evidence
- Ensure policies remain current as regulation and practice evolve
- Provide pharmacy governance oversight for significant operational, system, and process changes, ensuring risk assessments, SOPs, controls, testing, and patient-safety considerations are in place
- Lead governance and safe implementation for new medicine and service launches and ongoing medicines governance, including reviewing operational readiness, pharmacy controls, and SOPs
What You’ll Bring
- GPhC registered pharmacist with extensive experience in digital healthcare
- Strong familiarity with pharmacy regulation, including experience supporting a digital pharmacy to apply GPhC standards for services delivered at a distance
- Experience working alongside a CQC regulated entity preferred
- Independent Prescriber (IP) qualification preferred
- Experience with compounding preferred
- Pragmatic and solution-focused approach, comfortable working at pace
- Strong clinical leadership and stakeholder management, able to work cross-functionally with Medical and Product
- Confident coordinating and reviewing clinical audits, risk assessments and safety reporting frameworks
- Clear written communication, particularly for policy and guideline development
- Comfortable representing the organisation externally with professional bodies and regulators
