Role Description

The Deputy Children’s Home Manager & Care Practitioners will work on-site in Gainsborough in a part-time capacity, supporting the day-to-day running of a children’s residential home.

  • Deputy Manager:

    • Provide high-quality, trauma-informed care.
    • Build safe and trusting relationships with young people.
    • Support them with daily routines, education, and life skills.
    • Assist with staff supervision, shift planning, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safeguarding standards.
  • Care Practitioners:

    • Contribute to care plans.
    • Maintain accurate records.
    • Participate in team meetings.
    • Collaborate with external professionals to achieve positive outcomes.

Both functions will model consistent, nurturing practice, respond effectively to challenging behaviour, and contribute to a positive, stable home environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in children’s residential care, youth work, social care, or a closely related setting, with a strong understanding of trauma-informed and relationship-led practice.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures, regulatory frameworks (e.g., Ofsted standards), and best practices for supporting children and young people aged 8–18.
  • Strong communication, de-escalation, and behaviour support skills, including the ability to build trust, offer emotional support, and work effectively with families and external agencies.
  • Organisational and leadership abilities to support shift coordination, documentation, and team collaboration; experience mentoring or supervising colleagues is an advantage for the Deputy Manager component.
  • Relevant qualifications such as Level 3 or above in Children and Young People’s Workforce, Health and Social Care, or equivalent; willingness to undertake further CPD and required training (e.g., TCI) is essential.
  • Ability to work on-site on a rota basis (including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required), with resilience, reliability, and a reflective approach to practice.
