About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Deputy Cleaning Manager to join our team at AFC Harrogate College.
Working alongside the Cleaning Manager, you will support the delivery of high-quality cleaning and facilities management services across the College. You will help lead and develop the cleaning team, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, compliance and customer service are consistently achieved while supporting the operational and financial performance of the contract.

What You'll Be Doing
As Deputy Cleaning Manager, You Will
- Support the Cleaning Manager in the day-to-day leadership of the cleaning operation across AFC Harrogate College.
- Lead, motivate and develop the cleaning team to deliver outstanding service standards.
- Promote a positive safety culture by ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, COSHH regulations and company policies.
- Ensure cleaning services are delivered in line with contractual Service Level Agreements (SLAs), company standards and client expectations.
- Carry out regular quality inspections, audits and compliance checks, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Assist with recruitment, induction, training and ongoing development of cleaning colleagues.
- Plan staffing levels, coordinate rotas and ensure adequate cover to meet operational requirements.
- Support the management of labour, consumables and equipment budgets to achieve financial targets.
- Monitor stock levels and oversee the ordering of cleaning materials and equipment.
- Manage the performance of specialist contractors and third-party suppliers, including waste management and pest control providers.
- Build strong relationships with College representatives, responding professionally to requests and identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, efficiency, sustainability and customer satisfaction.
- Attend operational meetings, training courses and support additional business requirements as required.

Who We're Looking For
We're looking for a proactive and organised leader who is passionate about delivering exceptional cleaning standards.
You'll Have
- Previous supervisory or management experience within a commercial cleaning or facilities management environment.
- A minimum of 12 months' experience managing a cleaning operation.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, COSHH and safe systems of work.
- Proven experience leading, motivating and developing teams.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Good financial awareness, including labour management, stock control and budget monitoring.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and operational management systems.
- A flexible, hands-on approach with the ability to adapt to changing business needs.
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent qualification) or relevant industry experience.
