Are you an experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Nurse, or Paramedic with a background in urgent or emergency care?

Are you looking for a role where you can remain clinically hands-on while taking the next step into clinical leadership?

We are currently recruiting for a Deputy Clinical Lead to join a busy Urgent Treatment Centre in Portsmouth. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced autonomous practitioner to combine advanced clinical practice with leadership, mentoring, and service development.

Working closely with the senior clinical leadership team, you will help ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality urgent care while supporting the development of the wider multidisciplinary team.

The Role

As Deputy Clinical Lead, you will:

  • Provide autonomous assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients presenting with a range of urgent illnesses and injuries
  • Support the day-to-day clinical and operational leadership of the service
  • Coach, mentor, and develop clinical colleagues, supporting competency development and career progression
  • Lead and contribute to quality improvement, clinical governance, and audit initiatives
  • Promote evidence-based practice and identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes and experience
  • Support workforce planning and help maintain an effective clinical skill mix
  • Contribute to risk management, patient safety, and continuous service improvement
  • Help create a positive, supportive, and high-performing clinical environment

What We’re Looking For

You will be a Registered Nurse or Paramedic with current NMC or HCPC registration, alongside:

  • Advanced Practice qualification in Minor Illness and Minor Injury at Level 7, or equivalent
  • Independent Prescribing qualification, or willingness to work towards this
  • Significant post-registration clinical experience
  • Recent experience within urgent care, emergency care, UTC, UCC, or a similar setting
  • Strong autonomous assessment and clinical decision-making skills
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring, or developing clinical colleagues
  • Confidence working within a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment
  • A genuine interest in clinical education, quality improvement, and service development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Salary & Benefits

  • £63,000 – £69,000 per annum, depending on experience
  • Full-time permanent position
  • Joining bonus available
