Deputy Designated Safeguarding Children & CLA
6-month interim | REMOTE WORKING
We are supporting an NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) seeking an experienced Deputy Designated Safeguarding Professional for a six-month interim assignment, commencing in October.
This is an opportunity to provide specialist clinical and professional leadership across Safeguarding Children, Looked After Children and Care Leavers, working alongside Designated and Named Safeguarding professionals and a wide range of NHS and multi-agency partners.
The role
You will provide expert safeguarding advice, support assurance and quality improvement activity, and contribute to the development and delivery of safeguarding work programmes across the health system.
Key areas will include:
- Providing specialist advice and professional challenge on complex safeguarding matters.
- Supporting the ICB's safeguarding assurance, risk management and governance arrangements.
- Working closely with NHS providers, local authorities, children's social care, police and safeguarding partnerships.
- Supporting safeguarding children and looked-after children policies, procedures, audits and improvement programmes.
- Contributing to safeguarding reviews, reports and senior-level governance.
- Supporting the health needs and outcomes of Looked After Children and Care Leavers.
- Advising on complex issues including child maltreatment, information sharing, consent and relevant legal frameworks.
- Supporting the development of safeguarding training, supervision and professional practice.

About you
You will have:
- Previous Designated Safeguarding Children experience – essential.
- Significant specialist experience across Safeguarding Children and Looked After Children.
- Current professional registration as a nurse, AHP or social worker.
- Experience working at senior level within the NHS or wider health system.
- Strong multi-agency experience, including working with local authorities and children's social care.
- Experience providing professional challenge and advice on complex and sensitive safeguarding issues.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, policy, governance and assurance.
- The confidence to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and influence senior stakeholders.

This is a fully remote six-month interim opportunity for an experienced Designated safeguarding professional who can step into the role quickly and provide immediate specialist capacity and expertise.
