Deputy Director of Digital Products

About The Role

The Deputy Director of Digital Products leads the teams that build, implement, continually improve and support the University of Bath's applications, digital automation and data integrations, managing a diverse mix of commercial products and custom built solutions.

The University is in the early stages of a major digital transformation, as we migrate our core services from legacy on-premises technology to modern cloud native solutions. You will help influence and deliver this programme, fundamentally changing how we support our business through application technology. This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious and forward thinking individual to build their digital transformation and leadership skills, under a supportive and highly experienced senior leadership team.

You'll provide strategic leadership for our Digital Products function, ensuring our product portfolio aligns with the University's ambitions while delivering outstanding user experiences and measurable business value.

Working Closely With Senior Leaders Across The University, You'll

  • Lead the evolution from traditional project delivery towards a modern, product-led operating model.
  • Shape and deliver the University's digital product strategy, portfolio and roadmap.
  • Build and develop a high-performing product management capability through coaching, mentoring and leadership.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Develop trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, influencing strategic decisions and managing complex priorities.
  • Use insight, evidence and customer needs to prioritise investment and maximise value across the digital product portfolio.
  • Champion modern agile ways of working while balancing governance, risk and operational excellence.
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers and strategic partners to ensure the University continues to adopt innovative digital solutions.

About You

We're looking for an inspiring leader who combines strategic thinking with a collaborative and people-focused approach.

You'll Bring

  • Significant experience leading digital products, technology services or digital transformation within a complex organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of digital product management and agile principles, with experience applying them at organisational scale.
  • A proven track record of delivering digital change that improves user experience and delivers measurable organisational value.
  • Experience building, leading and developing high-performing, cross-functional teams through coaching and mentoring.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and build consensus across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • The confidence to work within a complex environment, balancing competing priorities while maintaining strategic focus.
  • A passion for innovation, continuous improvement and developing inclusive, empowered teams.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
