We're looking for an experienced and forward-thinking digital leader to help shape how our organisation works, innovates and delivers value through technology.
Deputy Director of Digital Transformation and IT
As Deputy Director of Digital Transformation and IT, you'll play a pivotal role in driving organisation-wide transformation, leading our digital strategy, IT services and change programmes. Working as part of the Extended Leadership Group, you'll help deliver a more efficient, connected and digitally enabled organisation while ensuring our technology continues to support an outstanding experience for colleagues, members and customers.
This is a permanent, full-time (35 hours), hybrid role, with either a York or London nominal office base, with average attendance of four times per month. The salary for this role is £73,786 gross per annum.

Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of our digital transformation agenda, embedding technology and digital solutions across all areas of the organisation.
- Develop and implement digital and IT strategies that support organisational priorities, enhance efficiency and improve the customer experience.
- Drive and champion the organisation-wide adoption of digital innovation, including the effective and responsible use of generative AI.
- Lead a portfolio of transformation and change projects, ensuring strong governance, effective delivery and successful adoption.
- Work closely with leaders across the organisation to identify opportunities where technology can improve processes, services and outcomes.
- Lead and inspire high-performing digital and IT teams, creating a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the development and management of core organisational systems, including web platforms, customer relationship management systems, online learning platforms and event management solutions.
- Ensure robust IT governance, cybersecurity, information security and compliance arrangements are in place, protecting organisational data and services
- Build organisational capability by helping colleagues develop the skills and confidence needed to thrive in a digital environment.
- Prepare and present reports, business cases and strategic recommendations to executive leaders and governance committees.
- Manage budgets, contracts, software licensing and supplier relationships to ensure value for money and effective service delivery.

Requirements
- A proven track record of delivering successful digital, IT or business transformation programmes in complex organisations.
- Significant experience leading IT strategy and translating organisational goals into practical digital solutions.
- Strong experience leading change, driving adoption and helping people navigate transformation successfully.
- The ability to influence senior stakeholders and build commitment to change, even where you do not have direct authority.
- Strong knowledge of programme and project management approaches and governance frameworks.
- Good understanding of cybersecurity, information security, risk management and technology governance.
- Experience developing organisational capability and building digital skills at both strategic and operational levels.
- Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, develop and inspire high-performing teams.
- Strong commercial and financial awareness, including experience managing budgets, forecasts and technology investments.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and influence decision-making at executive level.
- A collaborative, innovative and solutions-focused approach, combined with the confidence to make decisions and drive change.
- A degree in IT, Computer Science, Digital Transformation or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
