Job Overview
The Deputy Director of Estates and Facilities (Operational Estates and Capital Delivery) is the Trust’s accountable senior professional for the integrated delivery of operational estates, statutory compliance, assurance, risk and capital investment.
In the role you will hold Trust-wide accountability for ensuring that capital delivery, operational estates services and statutory compliance are planned, prioritised and delivered as a single, coherent system that protects patient safety, service continuity and regulatory compliance.
The role acts as the Trust’s accountable owner of the estates and capital governance framework, providing assurance to the Director of Estates and Facilities, Executive Team and Trust Board on risk, compliance, prioritisation and delivery outcomes.

Main duties of the job

- To be the strategic and operational lead and manage the operational estates maintenance, capital construction and governance and assurance functions including the formulation of strategic long term development plans to be flexible and adapt to the changing needs of the Trust to ensure a safe and efficient environment is maintained.
- The post is primarily responsible for Estates Services for host and partner Trusts.
- Management and professional leadership of support services including for estates maintenance, gardening services, energy and environmental management, life cycle development planning and delivery, capital planning and delivery, electrical and mechanical engineering, water safety, asbestos management and associated services and for governance risk and assurance including statutory and mandatory compliance and annual Trust returns for ERIC and Premises Assurance Model (PAM).
- Support the Trusts Representative in the management of the contract of the PFI site at Haywood Hospital, Stoke on Trent.
- Contract development, negotiating, awarding, mobilisation and performance monitoring of Estates and Facilities support services provided through external contractors in partnership with procurement for Host and Partners.
