A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a training B6 Management Accountant role progressing to a Band 7 Deputy Finance Business Partner role within the North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH)

Based at Crumpsall, the post holders will be an integral part of the NMCG, providing high quality, timely financial advice and support to the multidisciplinary divisional and directorate teams.

Job Purpose

The role being advertised has been designed specifically with the objective of providing the post holder with the relevant qualifications, practical experience, and support to progress from band 6 to band 7 across an agreed period (dependent on the experience and completion of professional accountancy qualification of the successful candidate).

The Deputy Financial Management Accountant will be an integral part of the Division, providing high quality and timely financial advice and support to multidisciplinary Divisional and Directorate teams (including clinicians, ward managers and budget holders) to enable the delivery of the Hospital’s financial objectives:

• To ensure comprehensive and timely monthly reporting of Directorates financial position
• To participate in and co-ordinate the setting of the Hospital Directorates revenue budgets
• To assist in the training of budget holders and managers in budgetary management and control.
• Assist the Senior Finance Business Partner in formulating, agreeing and setting budgets in consultation with managers and in accordance with Trust policies and strategies and to maintain controls on budget movements throughout the financial year.
• Contribute to the monthly production of the financial position and forecast by achieving the corporate reporting timetable
• Support the investigation of variances to plan to provide high quality information to budget holders to enable timely implementation of remedial actions
• Establish and maintain regular liaison with Directorate Managers, ward and Departmental Managers
• Assist in developing the quality of financial information and support provided by the Department and to be pro-active in the provision of financial information to managers,
• Contribute to the business planning process, service and capacity planning with the Senior Finance Business Partner, Directorate Managers and Service Managers, using well developed analytical and accounting skills and a range of computerised systems.
• Participate in appraisals and personal reviews and work to achieve the agreed objectives.
• Ensure that Financial Standing Orders / Standing Financial Instructions are adhered to.
• Day-to-day management of the Budget Manager and Budget Officer including supervision, development, management and appraisals.
