Role Description
The Deputy Garden Centre Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Northampton. This role supports the Garden Centre Manager in overseeing daily operations across retail, plant areas, and restaurant spaces, ensuring high standards of presentation, customer service, and safety.

Responsibilities

- Supervising and coaching team members
- Assisting with staff scheduling
- Helping to drive sales and profitability through effective merchandising and promotions
- Managing stock levels
- Coordinating with suppliers
- Monitoring performance against targets
- Handling customer queries and feedback
- Supporting local marketing initiatives
- Stepping in to lead the centre in the Manager’s absence
Qualifications
- Experience in retail or garden centre management, including supervising teams and supporting daily operations
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and resolve queries calmly and professionally
- Good organizational and time-management abilities, including experience with scheduling, stock control, and maintaining store standards
- Basic financial awareness, such as understanding sales targets, margins, and promotional activities
- Knowledge or interest in gardening, plants, or outdoor living products, with a willingness to develop product expertise
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across different departments
- Flexibility to work weekends, bank holidays, and peak trading periods as required
- Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant operations within a retail environment is beneficial
- Relevant supervisory or management experience in a customer-facing role is preferred
