Deputy General Manager - Smethwick Based

Our client is a Wholesale business that is rapidly growing and has ambitions over the next few years to grow the business, and the Deputy General Manager will play a key part in supporting these ambitions. This role is ideal for an inspirational leader with a proven track record in Big Box Food retail or Wholesale Management and the ideal candidate will want to grow their career to a General Manager position within a reasonable amount of time. If you are commercially minded, passionate about customer service, and thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

What does the role involve?

As the Deputy General Manager for this important site in Smethwick, you will play a key role in ensuring the depot operates safely, efficiently and consistently every single day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and deputise for the General Manager across all areas of depot operation.
  • Lead daily communication and motivate colleagues to achieve high standards.
  • Plan resources throughout the day to maximise productivity and respond to changing customer demand.
  • Coach and hold Section Supervisors accountable for operational excellence.
  • Ensure outstanding housekeeping, stock presentation and safety standards across every aisle.
  • Lead the successful launch of promotions and maintain excellent merchandising standards.
  • Drive pricing accuracy, stock availability and weekly gap scanning.
  • Resolve issues quickly while maintaining a positive, high-performing culture.
  • Champion exceptional customer service through acknowledging and engaging every customer.
