Lead, inspire and take the next step towards becoming a General Manager

At St Austell Brewery, we're brewing great experiences for generations to come. As the South West's leading brewing, hospitality and drinks wholesale business, we're proud of our 175-year heritage, award-winning pubs and commitment to developing great people.

We're looking for an ambitious Deputy General Manager to join our team and play a key role in delivering exceptional guest experiences, building high-performing teams and driving commercial success. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospitality manager who is ready to take the next step towards a General Manager position.

About The Role

Working closely with the General Manager, you'll help lead the day-to-day operation of the business, creating a positive and engaging culture for both guests and colleagues. You'll support the delivery of sales, profit and service targets while ensuring the highest standards of food quality, guest experience, compliance and team engagement.

When the General Manager is away, you'll confidently take the lead, motivating your team to deliver outstanding hospitality and ensuring the business continues to perform at its best.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the General Manager in the successful operation of the business.
  • Lead, coach and develop a passionate team to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
  • Drive sales, profitability and operational performance.
  • Develop future talent through coaching, training and succession planning.
  • Ensure consistently high standards across front and back of house.
  • Champion health, safety and compliance across the business.
  • Manage guest feedback and continually improve service standards.
  • Build an inclusive, people-focused culture aligned to St Austell Brewery values.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
