Job Overview
Southmead Hospital operating unit are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager to join the Imaging Department as Imaging Business manager.
The Imaging service forms part of the Core Clinical Services Division within Bristol NHS Foundation Trust (BFT), one of the largest acute healthcare providers in the South West. The Trust provides services across multiple hospital sites and is committed to delivering safe, high-quality, equitable and sustainable healthcare for the population it serves.
Working within a service line management and triumvirate model, the post holder's key working relationships will be with clinical leaders, operational managers and corporate colleagues across Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. The primary focus of the role will be to support delivery of high-quality, efficient and patient-centred services through effective operational management, performance improvement, service transformation and strategic planning.
Main duties of the job
- Lead on operational management issues as defined by the Head of Imaging Services and Divisional Operations Director.
- Support the strategic integration of Imaging services across Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, ensuring alignment of workforce, technology, performance and operational processes.
- Work collaboratively with operational, clinical and digital colleagues to maximise the benefits of shared diagnostic systems and networked service delivery.
- Provide leadership and support for clinical and non-clinical teams.
- In collaboration with the Head of Imaging Services, be responsible for the development and delivery of the specialty’s annual business plans.
- Deputise for the Head of Imaging Services and develop robust and effective working relationships with other divisional management teams.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of a highly functioning performance management reporting system for the specialties.
- Play a key role in the development and presentation of information at Specialty Review meetings.
- Ensure compliance with national guidelines and statutory regulations.
- Ensure there is a data quality strategy for the specialty.

- Significant senior operational management experience within the NHS or similarly complex healthcare organisation
- Experience of managing large, complex multidisciplinary services
- Experience of direct accountability for substantial budgets, including pay, non-pay and income.
- Experience of developing and delivering strategic, business and operational plans.
- Experience of performance management against national and local targets.
- Experience of workforce planning and organisational development.
- Experience of working collaboratively with clinical leaders and multidisciplinary teams
- Experience of preparing business cases and leading investment or capital projects
- Experience of managing competing priorities within a complex and politically sensitive environment.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of managing Imaging or other diagnostic services.
