Deputy Head of School – Maths
Permanent Full Time: 36 hours per week
Salary: £44,655 per annum

St Helens & Knowsley Colleges are seeking a passionate and ambitious Deputy Head of School for Maths to play a key leadership role within one of our most important curriculum areas. This is an exciting opportunity to support the strategic direction and day-to-day management of the School, helping to drive outstanding teaching, learning, and student achievement.
As a member of the College Management Team, you will work closely with the Head of School to create an ambitious and inclusive learning environment where both students and staff can thrive. You will support curriculum development, quality improvement, staff performance, and student success, ensuring an outstanding experience for all learners.

This role is based across our St Helens Town Centre and Knowsley campuses. As a multi-site role, travel between campuses will be required.
This role carries an annual teaching commitment of 648 hours.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- A recognised teaching and/or assessor qualification.
- Experience of teaching and/or assessment within the Further Education or Secondary Education sector.
- Experience of leadership and/or staff management.
- A proven ability to motivate, develop, and support teams to achieve outstanding results.
- A strong track record of delivering excellent teaching, learning, and assessment.
- Experience of quality improvement and performance monitoring.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding, wellbeing, and enhancing the student experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head of School in the strategic and operational management of the curriculum area.
- Lead and support staff to deliver outstanding teaching, learning, and assessment.
- Monitor and improve key performance indicators, including attendance, retention, achievement, progress, and destinations.
- Support quality assurance and quality improvement activities, including lesson observations, self-assessment, and quality improvement planning.
- Coach, develop, and performance manage staff, supporting continuous professional development and excellence in practice.
- Contribute to curriculum planning, development, and innovation, ensuring provision meets learner, employer, and funding requirements.
- Foster a collaborative culture that encourages the sharing of best practice and continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with employers, industry partners, and external stakeholders to enhance opportunities for learners.
- Support the effective management of resources, timetables, staffing, and operational requirements within the School.
- Promote and uphold the highest standards of safeguarding, equality, diversity, wellbeing, and health and safety.
- Participate in the College duty manager rota and contribute to cross-college initiatives and projects.
