Moreton School is a large secondary school serving our community in Wolverhampton, with catchment areas including Bushbury, Low Hill, and Scotlands. The school has a small Sixth Form and a Football Academy with links to Paris St. Germain, making it a unique and dynamic learning environment.

The Role: Deputy Headteacher – Personal Development, Curriculum and Sixth Form
We are seeking an exceptional and ambitious leader to join our senior leadership team as Deputy Headteacher from January 2027.
This exciting role offers the opportunity to provide strategic leadership for personal development, curriculum and the continued growth of our sixth form provision as part of Amethyst Sixth, working in close partnership with Aldersley High School and the wider Amethyst Academies Trust.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experiences and future opportunities available to our students. They will lead the development of an ambitious, inclusive and knowledge-rich curriculum, oversee a highly effective personal development programme and drive the growth and success of the sixth form provision at Moreton School.
Working alongside the Headteacher, the successful candidate will contribute significantly to the strategic direction, continued improvement and future success of the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for curriculum, personal development and sixth form provision across the school.
- Lead the continued development of an ambitious, inclusive and high-quality curriculum that prepares students for future study, employment and adult life.
- Drive the school's personal development strategy, including PSHE, careers education, enrichment, student leadership and preparation for adulthood.
- Lead the introduction, growth and quality assurance of sixth form provision at Moreton School as part of Amethyst Sixth.
- Work collaboratively with Aldersley High School, Trust leaders and external partners to strengthen post-16 pathways and opportunities.
- Support and develop middle and senior leaders through coaching, professional development and effective line management.
- Use data, stakeholder feedback and self-evaluation to drive continuous school improvement.
- Support the Headteacher in maintaining high standards across the school and ensuring readiness for inspection and external accountability.
- Contribute to the strategic vision, culture and ethos of the school.
Essential
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Degree level qualification.
- Successful senior leadership experience within a secondary school setting.
- Proven experience of leading improvement and securing positive outcomes for students.
- Experience of school self-evaluation and development planning.
- Demonstrable success in line management and staff development.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong understanding of curriculum design, implementation and evaluation.
- Excellent knowledge of personal development, careers education and enrichment provision.
- Understanding of post-16 pathways and curriculum opportunities.
- The ability to inspire, influence and motivate colleagues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and strategic leadership skills.
- Commitment to high standards, continuous improvement and educational excellence.
