Role Description
The Deputy Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Ipswich, supporting the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the service. This role includes overseeing staff schedules, supervising and mentoring team members, and ensuring that care is delivered in line with regulatory standards and organizational policies. The Deputy Manager will contribute to care planning and reviews, liaise with external stakeholders such as families, healthcare professionals, and local authorities, and address operational issues promptly. Responsibilities also include monitoring service quality, managing documentation and audits, supporting safeguarding processes, and participating in recruitment, induction, and training activities. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, maintaining clear communication across the team, and promoting a positive, inclusive workplace culture.

Qualifications

- Strong leadership and team management skills, including staff supervision, performance support, and the ability to delegate and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Experience in healthcare, social care, or related care environments, with a clear understanding of person-centered care and safeguarding responsibilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with individuals receiving support, families, colleagues, and external professionals.
- Organizational and administrative abilities, including maintaining accurate records, supporting audits, and following regulatory and company procedures.
- Relevant qualification in health and social care (e.g., Level 3 or Level 5 diploma or equivalent), or willingness to work toward such a qualification.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and standards (such as CQC in England), and commitment to continuous quality improvement.
- Confidence in using basic IT systems for documentation, reporting, and communication.
- Ability to work flexibly, including potential evening or weekend shifts as required, and to respond calmly and professionally to emergencies.
