At the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

We are a leading General Hospital and specialist tertiary centre for cancer.

Department Overview

There are 3 GE SPECT/CT gamma cameras; 2 DR and 1 CZT. The molecular radiotherapy service has expanded over recent years to includes Lu-177 Dotatate therapy, iodine ablation therapy, thyrotoxicosis therapy and Xofigo.

The department is accredited by UKAS/MPACE and participates in a number of clinical research trials and works with clinicians and colleagues across the Trust to provide a forward looking and responsive service.

Main Role

The main role of this post is to support and when required deputise for the Lead and taking responsibility for the day to day organisation of the multi-disciplinary Nuclear Medicine team. Additionally, the post holder will act as a lead in a speciality area as required by the relevant accreditation standards. Other delegated duties will include all aspects of staff management from recruitment, appraisal and management of sickness.

When deputising the post holder will manage the workload within the service to ensure optimum throughput whilst maintaining a safe environment and highest standard of patient care while ensuring the service achieves waiting times targets.

The Deputy Lead will act as a professional resource to the multi-disciplinary team (MDT). The post holder will work alongside the professional leads (Nuclear Medicine) and Medical Physics management team to ensure the development and management of all aspects of the Nuclear Medicine service, including research.

To act as a role model, demonstrating high standards of work and participate in the training and education of junior staff and students. Lead and promote a culture of continuous improvement in clinical governance, safety and quality management.

The post involves diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients and the acquisition and processing of scan data.
