Deputy Manager - £30,000-£35,000 DOE
Location: Sunderland
Working Arrangement: Hub Based
Reports To: Registered Manager
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager with the leadership and day-to-day running of a high-quality care service.
The role will focus on maintaining excellent care standards, regulatory compliance, staff development, safeguarding, and continuous service improvement. You’ll also need to stay up to date with developments across health and social care and their impact on service delivery.
Relevant care sector experience is essential, with a Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification desirable/required.
Key Responsibilities
Service Management & Compliance
- Support the day-to-day management and effective running of the service.
- Complete regular compliance checks and monitor action and improvement plans.
- Support CQC readiness, regulatory reporting, audits, and statutory requirements.
- Manage safeguarding concerns and complaints when required.
- Support the implementation of new processes and service improvements.
- Attend multidisciplinary meetings and work with external professionals.
- Provide management cover in the Registered Manager’s absence.
- Promote high standards of person-centred care, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Finance
- Ensure payroll, timesheets, expenses, petty cash, and related information are accurate and submitted on time.
- Support monitoring of income, expenditure, budgets, and financial reporting.
- Contribute to achieving agreed financial and operational targets.
Staff Training & Development
- Support the recruitment, induction, training, supervision, and development of staff.
- Ensure employees are appropriately trained and competent to perform their roles.
- Monitor mandatory training and compliance requirements.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and support to promote strong staff performance.

Leadership & General Duties
- Chair and facilitate meetings where required.
- Build positive working relationships with staff, families, professionals, and external stakeholders.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with relevant policies, legislation, health and safety requirements.
- Take responsibility for ongoing professional development and mandatory training.
- Participate in an agreed on-call rota and provide management support outside normal working hours when required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification – desirable/required.
- Relevant experience within health and social care.
- Strong understanding of regulatory and quality standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to person-centred care and continuous improvement.
