Deputy Manager
Exciting new opportunity in travel retail, delivering exceptional service while working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment!
Job purpose:
The Deputy Manager supports the General Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the store, ensuring sales and profit targets are achieved, and a high standard of customer service is consistently delivered. You will help lead and develop the team, manage stock and operational standards, and support effective scheduling, training and performance management.
Working closely with the General Manager, you will take ownership of key operational areas and ensure the store operates effectively, safely and in line with company and airport requirements. In the absence of the General Manager, you will take responsibility for the overall operation of the store.
Reports to: General Manager
Location: Belfast International Airport
Contract: 37.5 hours per week, across 5 days
Key responsibilities:
- Assist the General Manager in achieving sales and profit targets.
- Managing a team of Supervisors, ensuring they are motivated, knowledgeable and equipped to manage their individual teams.
- Supervise, motivate, and lead the sales team to deliver excellent customer service.
- Ensure the store is well maintained, visually appealing, and stocked according to merchandising guidelines.
- Handle staffing, including scheduling, shift management, and training of new employees.
- Manage stock levels and inventory control, ensuring proper stock rotation and minimising loss.
- Handle customer complaints and resolve issues efficiently and professionally.
- Monitor and report on store performance and staff productivity.
- Support with managing HR issues within the store, working closely with the General Manager and HR where appropriate.
- Accountable for health and safety, security and emergency systems, according to company policy, airport requirements and relevant law.
- Support the General Manager in administrative tasks, including financial reports and store policies.

Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a retail management or supervisory role.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Proven ability to drive sales, improve performance and achieve commercial targets.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem solving skills.
- Proficiency in stock management and retail operations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Accessing the airport:
A five-year working and personal reference, along with a Criminal Reference Check, will be required for this role as the store is airside in the departures lounge. This will be discussed in more detail at interview stage or please contact us if you have any questions regarding this.
