Role Description
The Deputy Manager role at The Brooke Surgery is a full-time, on-site position based in Hyde. The Deputy Manager supports the Practice Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations, including staff supervision, rota planning, and workload allocation to maintain smooth clinic functioning. This role coordinates front-desk and administrative processes, manages patient flow, and helps ensure timely handling of appointments, referrals, and patient inquiries. The Deputy Manager contributes to compliance with relevant healthcare regulations, supports quality improvement initiatives, and assists with policies, reporting, and documentation. The position involves working closely with clinicians and the administrative team to solve operational issues, enhance patient experience, and maintain a safe, organized practice environment.

- Strong healthcare or medical office administration skills, including familiarity with GP practice workflows and patient-facing services.
- Experience in people management, team coordination, and staff training or supervision in a clinical or similar setting.
- Proficiency in general office software and practice management systems, with accurate data entry and record-keeping capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information and support diverse patient needs.
- Organisational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks in a busy environment and manage time effectively.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations, confidentiality requirements, and basic quality and risk management principles is desirable.
- Prior experience in a GP surgery or healthcare environment is preferred; a relevant qualification in healthcare administration or management is advantageous.
- Ability to work on-site in Hyde, demonstrate reliability, and maintain a professional, patient-centred approach.
