Deputy Manager - Children’s Home
Location: West Bromwich
Employment Type: Full-time
We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager to support the leadership of a children’s residential home.
This role would suit a residential childcare professional who can work closely with the Registered Manager, lead staff day to day and help deliver safe, consistent and child-centred care for children and young people.
You will help maintain high standards across the home, support Ofsted compliance and promote a positive safeguarding culture.
The role will involve:
- Supporting the Registered Manager and deputising when required
- Leading, mentoring and supervising Team Leaders and Residential Support Workers
- Carrying out supervisions, appraisals and performance reviews
- Supporting recruitment, induction and staff training
- Helping manage rotas and safe staffing levels
- Ensuring care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans are followed
- Supporting audits, quality monitoring and regulatory compliance
- Building positive relationships with families, social workers and professionals

We are looking for someone with:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent
- Experience within children’s residential care
- Strong leadership, mentoring and supervisory skills
- Good understanding of safeguarding and Ofsted expectations
- Ability to remain calm, resilient and professional under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people

Desirable experience:
- Level 5 leadership or management qualification
- Previous Team Leader or Deputy Manager experience
- Experience supervising or mentoring staff
- Experience supporting children with complex needs or behaviours that challenge
- Full UK driving licence
