We're supporting a growing organisation within the Children's Residential Care sector in the search for an experienced Deputy Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for an established Deputy Manager, Assistant Manager, or Children's Residential Team Leader looking to join a supportive provider committed to delivering outstanding outcomes for children and young people.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will support the day-to-day leadership of an Ofsted-regulated Children's Residential Home, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, compliance, and team performance.

You will play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing, and positive environment where young people can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager in the effective operation of the home
  • Lead and develop residential care teams to deliver exceptional standards of care
  • Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations, Children's Homes Regulations, and Quality Standards
  • Promote safeguarding and ensure the welfare of children remains at the centre of decision-making
  • Conduct staff supervisions and support performance management processes
  • Oversee care planning, risk assessments, and record keeping
  • Build effective working relationships with local authorities, social workers, families, and external professionals
  • Support recruitment, induction, and ongoing staff development
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and positive Ofsted outcomes
  • Participate in the management on-call rota as required

About You

We are interested in speaking with candidates currently working as:

  • Deputy Manager
  • Assistant Manager
  • Children's Residential Team Leader
  • Residential Care Team Leader

To be successful, you will have:

  • Leadership experience within an Ofsted-regulated Children's Residential Home
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and Children's Home Regulations
  • Experience managing or supervising residential childcare staff
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • A child-centred approach and commitment to achieving positive outcomes

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience within Children's Residential Care
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Ability to work flexibly and participate in an on-call rota

Desirable

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
  • Experience supporting children with EBD, trauma, complex needs, or challenging behaviours
  • Experience contributing to Ofsted inspections and regulatory compliance
