About Safe Haven Homes
Safe Haven Homes is looking for an experienced and committed Deputy Manager to join the team at our new children's residential home in South East London.
Our home has been created to provide a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment where children and young people feel valued, supported and genuinely cared for. Our approach is child-centred, with a strong focus on consistency, positive relationships and helping young people develop confidence, independence and achieve positive outcomes.
As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Registered Manager to provide strong day-to-day leadership and ensure high standards of care, safeguarding and regulatory compliance across the home.
We are looking for someone who understands children's residential care, leads with confidence and compassion and can support a team to deliver consistent, reflective and child-focused practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager with the effective day-to-day running of the home and deputise in their absence
- Lead, supervise and support the residential care team to deliver consistent, high-quality care
- Ensure practice within the home is compliant with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements
- Promote a strong safeguarding culture, ensuring the welfare and safety of children and young people remain at the centre of practice
- Support the development, implementation and review of individual care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies
- Help create a nurturing, structured and inclusive environment that supports positive outcomes for young people
- Lead and contribute to staff supervision, reflective practice, team meetings and ongoing staff development
- Support with rota management and ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained
- Monitor the quality of recording, reporting and care documentation within the home
- Contribute to audits, inspections and ongoing quality assurance processes
- Work collaboratively with families, social workers and other professionals to ensure consistent support for each young person
- Participate in the on-call rota and respond appropriately to incidents or emergencies when required

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or an equivalent relevant qualification
- Willingness to work towards a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, where not already held
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a senior or supervisory role within a children's residential home
- Strong understanding of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and support a residential care team
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and behaviour management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good organisational and administrative skills with the ability to maintain high standards of documentation
- Ability to remain calm, professional and solution-focused in challenging situations
- Full UK driving licence

- Experience working within a therapeutic or trauma-informed care model
- Experience supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, attachment needs or complex trauma
