Role Description

The Deputy Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Sale, supporting the Store Manager in the day-to-day running of the store. This role includes overseeing daily operations, coordinating staff schedules, and ensuring smooth customer flow throughout the day. The Deputy Manager helps maintain high standards of customer service, supports optical and hearing care teams, and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures. Responsibilities also include monitoring sales performance, assisting with local marketing activities, supporting stock control, and contributing to a positive, inclusive, and safety-conscious workplace culture.

  • A minimum of 2 years management experience.
  • Optics experience preferred but not essential
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, including team coordination, coaching, and performance support.
  • Customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and handle queries in a professional manner.
  • Operational and organizational skills, such as scheduling, basic stock management, and attention to detail in daily store processes.
  • Sales and retail knowledge, with an understanding of targets, basic retail metrics, and a commercial mindset.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive approach to resolving issues and improving processes.
  • Comfort with basic digital and point-of-sale systems; willingness to learn company-specific tools and platforms.
  • Previous experience in retail, healthcare, or service-oriented environments is beneficial; supervisory experience is an advantage.
  • Ability to work on-site in Sale on a full-time basis, including weekends and peak trading periods as required.
