The Old Vicarage Care Home
The Old Vicarage Care Home is a modern residential, dementia, respite and day care home in Clay Cross, Chesterfield. Surrounded by beautiful mature gardens and excellent facilities, our caring team provides personalised support that helps residents maintain independence, comfort and wellbeing.
Deputy Manager Contract
- £38,735 per annum
- Contracted to 40 hours per week
- Paid DBS, pension and uniform provided
- 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full-time contract)

Role Overview
As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Home Manager to lead the delivery of outstanding, person-centred care while ensuring residents' dignity, independence, choice and wellbeing remain at the heart of everything you do. You will provide day-to-day leadership to the care team, ensuring high standards of care, regulatory compliance and a positive, supportive culture throughout the home.
You will oversee care planning, medication management, record keeping and quality monitoring, ensuring residents' changing needs are accurately reflected and any concerns are acted upon promptly. Working collaboratively with residents, families and healthcare professionals, you will help maintain safe, responsive and effective care while promoting continuous improvement across the service.

You will supervise, mentor and develop the care team, supporting recruitment, induction, training and performance while leading by example through hands-on care when required. You will ensure compliance with Health & Safety, infection prevention, safeguarding and regulatory requirements, deputise for the Home Manager in their absence, participate in the on-call rota and contribute to the successful day-to-day management of the home.
The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.
What We Are Looking For
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
- At least three years' experience working within a residential or nursing care setting, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Experience leading, mentoring and developing care teams to deliver high-quality person-centred care.
- Strong understanding of care planning, medication management, record keeping and regulatory compliance.
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety, infection prevention, safeguarding and the Health & Social Care Act.
- Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills with the ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, colleagues and healthcare professionals.
- A compassionate, reliable and proactive leader who leads by example and is committed to delivering outstanding care.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rota and deputise for the Home Manager when required.
