Role Description
The Deputy Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Castle Donington, supporting the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the children’s home. This role includes supervising and guiding staff, ensuring that care plans are followed, and maintaining high standards of safeguarding, safety, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Deputy Manager will actively participate in care planning, oversee daily routines, and support the emotional, educational, and social development of children and young people.

- Managing rotas
- Participating in staff recruitment and training
- Handling incident reporting
- Contributing to inspections and quality assurance
- Building positive relationships with children, families, external professionals, and local agencies
- Acting as a role model for trauma-informed and child-centered practice
Qualifications
- Strong leadership and team management skills, including staff supervision, performance support, and the ability to motivate and develop a diverse care team.
- Experience in children’s residential care or similar settings, with sound knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., Ofsted standards).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust with children, families, and professionals, and to handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Competence in planning, organizing, and problem-solving, including managing rotas, documenting care plans, and responding effectively to incidents and emergencies.
- Commitment to trauma-informed, person-centered practice, and an understanding of the emotional, educational, and social needs of children and young people.
- Relevant qualification in social care, childcare, or a related field (e.g., Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare).
- Basic IT skills for record-keeping, reporting, and communication, and the ability to follow organizational policies and procedures.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, and readiness to support occasional on-call duties as required.
