Role Description

The Deputy Manager role at The Range in Dereham is a full-time, on-site position supporting the Store Manager in the daily running of the store. The Deputy Manager helps lead the store team, ensures high standards of customer service, and supports staff scheduling, training, and performance.

  • Monitoring stock levels
  • Overseeing merchandising and promotional displays
  • Maintaining store presentation to company standards
  • Supporting sales targets
  • Managing key operational processes such as cash handling and compliance checks
  • Acting as the main point of contact in the absence of the Store Manager

The Deputy Manager is expected to lead by example on the shop floor, fostering a positive, inclusive, and safety-conscious working environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in retail or customer-facing environments, with a strong focus on delivering excellent customer service and managing busy store operations.
  • Leadership and people management skills, including the ability to motivate teams, delegate tasks effectively, and support staff development.
  • Organizational and time-management skills to handle scheduling, workload prioritization, and coordination of daily store activities.
  • Basic numerical and cash-handling abilities, with attention to detail and a commitment to accurate stock control and compliance with store processes.
  • Strong communication skills, including clear verbal communication with customers and colleagues, and the ability to handle queries and resolve issues professionally.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced retail setting, with flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.
  • Previous supervisory or assistant management experience in retail or hospitality is highly beneficial.
  • Knowledge of health and safety principles in a store environment and a commitment to maintaining a safe workplace for customers and team members.
