Summary
This role involves working closely with the Registered Manager to provide leadership and support within a children's residential home regulated by Ofsted. The position is crucial for ensuring the delivery of safe, nurturing, and person-centred care to children. The successful candidate will be responsible for operational leadership, staff management, quality assurance, and maintaining regulatory compliance. This is a 3-6 month contract with a local authority, offering a rate of £27.79 per hour under an umbrella company, with additional payments for weekend work, on-call duties, and sleep-in shifts.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Registered Manager in the daily operations of the residential home.
- Provide leadership and guidance to residential care staff.
- Manage staff rotas to ensure adequate staffing levels.
- Conduct supervision sessions and manage staff performance.
- Mentor and develop staff to encourage best practices and continuous improvement.
- Foster positive relationships with children and young people.
- Support the creation and implementation of individual care plans.
- Ensure high standards of care and safeguarding practices are upheld.
- Perform quality assurance activities, audits, and service improvements.
- Review and audit case records, reports, and statutory documentation.

Requirements
- Significant experience in an Ofsted-regulated children's residential home.
- Extensive experience supporting children with emotional, behavioural, mental health, and complex needs.
- Previous experience in supervising or managing staff in a residential care setting.
- Experience in audits, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
- Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent NVQ Level 3 qualification.
- Enhanced DBS clearance and successful completion of Schedule 2 checks.
- Ability to work 37 hours per week, including shift work, weekends, and on-call duties.
- Availability to attend the home outside normal hours if necessary.

Additional information to note
- Working hours: 37 hours per week
- Contract length: 3-6 months
- Expected end date: End of January
- Start date: ASAP
- Reason for interim requirement: Unable to recruit permanently, therefore moving to agency provision
Working Pattern & Additional Requirements
- Standard working hours: generally 9am-5pm
- Candidates will be required to undertake:
- Shift work
- Weekend working (approximately one weekend per month)
- On-call duties
- Candidates may be required to attend the home outside normal hours if needed. The Hiring Manager gave the example of potentially receiving a call at 3am and needing to attend the service.
- Enhanced DBS with barred list required.
- We work on bi-weekly payment schedule.
