Role Description

The Deputy Manager is a full time, on-site role based at Abafields Residential Home in Bolton. This position supports the Registered Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations, including staff coordination, resident care planning, and compliance with regulatory and company standards.

  • Conducting assessments and reviews
  • Maintaining accurate records
  • Ensuring that care plans are followed and updated
  • Managing schedules
  • Participating in staff training and development
  • Liaising with families and external professionals
  • Contributing to quality assurance activities
  • Responding to incidents
  • Supporting resident admissions
  • Promoting a positive and safe environment
  • Stepping in for the Manager when required

Qualifications

  • Relevant health or social care qualification (e.g., NVQ/QCF Level 3 or above in Health and Social Care) and experience in a residential or care home setting.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or senior care role, with the ability to lead teams, delegate tasks, and support staff performance.
  • Strong care planning, assessment, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and adherence to regulatory standards and policies.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, colleagues, and external professionals.
  • Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy care environment.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, and quality assurance processes in adult social care.
  • Comfort with basic IT systems for record-keeping, reporting, and communication.
  • Commitment to person-centered care, equality, and inclusive practice, with a flexible, empathetic, and reliable approach.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including some evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required.
  • Previous experience in UK care regulation frameworks (e.g., CQC standards) is highly beneficial.
