Your Role
We’re looking for an experienced and collaborative Deputy Managing Editor to help lead LBC’s editorial and operational output across radio, digital, video and on-demand platforms.
Reporting to the Managing Editor, you’ll help shape LBC’s editorial direction, deliver outstanding journalism and ensure our content continues to lead the national conversation. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of one of the UK’s leading news brands.
Key Responsibilities
- Editorial Leadership: Work alongside the Managing Editor to deliver LBC’s editorial vision, providing clear direction and ensuring consistently high-quality, distinctive and impactful content.
- Production & Operations: Oversee the day-to-day delivery of live and on-demand output, ensuring effective planning, resourcing and smooth newsroom operations.
- People Leadership & Development: Lead, coach and develop production teams, building a collaborative, creative and high-performing newsroom culture.
- Digital & Audience Growth: Bring together radio, digital, video and social content, using audience insight and performance data to grow reach, listening and engagement.
- Strategy & Innovation: Support LBC’s longer-term editorial strategy, identifying opportunities to strengthen content, improve processes and drive audience growth.
- Editorial Standards & Compliance: Maintain the highest editorial standards, ensuring content meets Ofcom regulations and Global’s editorial requirements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
