Deputy Residential Home Manager – 3 Month Contract
Location: Thornton House, 1 Goode Court, Kettering, NN15 5FG
Rate: £300 per day (Umbrella)
Contract: 3 Month Contract
Hours: 37 Hours Per Week
Working Pattern: Primarily based at the residential home with occasional flexibility for home working
DBS: Enhanced DBS Required
DVLA Check: Required Prior to Commencement
Pay: Bi-weekly
Summary
We are seeking a seasoned Deputy Residential Home Manager to join our team at Thornton House for a 3-month contract. This pivotal role involves collaborating with the Registered Manager to ensure the home delivers exceptional care and support to children and young people. The position demands adherence to Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards, fostering positive outcomes, emotional health, education, and independence. This opportunity is perfect for individuals with a background in residential childcare management who are dedicated to safeguarding, staff development, and high-quality care delivery.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Registered Manager in overseeing daily operations of the home.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor residential care staff.
- Conduct regular staff supervisions and contribute to their development and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with:
- Children's Homes Regulations 2015
- Quality Standards
- Safeguarding requirements
- Relevant legislation and policies
- Monitor the safety, welfare, and outcomes of children and young people.
- Contribute to care planning, behavior support strategies, and risk assessments.
- Manage safeguarding concerns, incidents, and complaints effectively.
- Support recruitment, induction, and training of staff.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure high-standard documentation.
- Liaise with:
- Social Workers
- Families
- Schools
- Health Professionals
- External Agencies
- Participate in management on-call duties.
- Provide leadership and operational management in the absence of the Registered Manager.
- Support service development and improvement planning.
- Assist with preparation for Ofsted inspections.
- Foster a positive, nurturing culture within the home.

Essential Requirements
- Experience in a Children's Residential Care setting.
- Experience in supervising or managing residential childcare staff.
- Strong understanding of:
- Children's Homes Regulations 2015
- Quality Standards
- Safeguarding procedures
- Children's legislation and best practices
- Experience in managing incidents, safeguarding concerns, and complaints.
- Experience in contributing to care planning and risk assessments.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-agency environment.
- Enhanced DBS Certificate.

- Travel in a work vehicle may be necessary for activities such as school pick-ups and appointments.
- While primarily based at the residential home, some flexible home working may be available as service needs allow.
