Job Description
You will be joining a friendly and supportive Dermatology Department, which provides comprehensive Dermatology services at Florence Nightingale Community Hospital.
About the Role
The Department is looking to appoint a part-time Band 6 Specialist Nurse to work within the Dermatology team.
We are a progressive forward-thinking department with a positive approach at meeting and delivering the current challenges of the NHS. The Dermatology Nursing team work alongside a large team including Dermatology Consultants, Registrars, speciality Doctors, a Nurse lead Biologics team, and a Nurse lead skin cancer/sarcoma team.
Responsibilities
Under Direction Of The Lead Specialist Nurse
- Deliver specialist dermatology nursing care within outpatient clinics.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care for patients with a wide range of dermatological conditions.
- Undertake comprehensive physical and psychological assessments, recognising the significant impact of skin disease on quality of life.
- Monitor treatment effectiveness, identify adverse effects, and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Provide expert education and support to patients, relatives, and carers, promoting self-management and shared decision-making.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and legally compliant clinical documentation.
- Participate in virtual, telephone, and face-to-face consultations where appropriate.
- Act as a clinical role model, promoting professional standards and evidence-based practice.
- Support the day-to-day running of the dermatology nursing service.
- Supervise Band 5 nurses, nursing associates, healthcare support workers, and students.
- Participate in staff appraisals, induction, competency assessment, and performance development where delegated.
- Deputise for the Senior Sister/Lead Nurse as required.
- Promote a positive learning environment and support staff wellbeing.
