Position Overview

Apex Skin is a multi-location dermatology organization dedicated to transforming lives through healthy skin. The Dermatology Marketing Specialist plays an important role in supporting the growth and visibility of Apex Skin by developing and executing strategic marketing and community initiatives that attract new patients, engage existing patients, support provider and location growth, increase community visibility, and increase awareness of priority services.

This position blends creativity, project management, community engagement, collaboration, execution, and data-driven decision-making. The Dermatology Marketing Specialist will help turn organizational marketing strategy into effective campaigns and initiatives through traditional marketing, print, community engagement, provider marketing, patient communications, partnerships, and other appropriate channels.

The ideal candidate understands how marketing and community engagement activities influence patient behavior, appointment generation, provider growth, brand awareness, service-line performance, and overall organizational objectives. This individual will take ownership of assigned initiatives from concept through execution, measurement, reporting, and optimization.

Essential Functions

Marketing Campaign Development and Execution

  • Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns that support organizational growth, patient acquisition, provider visibility, service-line priorities, and brand awareness.
  • Contribute to annual, quarterly, and monthly marketing calendars aligned with organizational priorities, provider needs, seasonal opportunities, service-line goals, community initiatives, and patient acquisition objectives.
  • Manage assigned campaigns from concept and planning through execution, measurement, reporting, and optimization.
  • Coordinate campaign timelines, creative development, approvals, implementation, and performance tracking to ensure initiatives are executed accurately and on schedule.

Community Initiatives and Engagement

  • Actively assist the Community Engagement Coordinator in:
    • Assist in proactively researching and identifying community events, partnerships, sponsorships, educational opportunities, health fairs, skin cancer awareness initiatives, spot check opportunities, and other community activities that align with Apex Skin's growth and community engagement objectives.
    • Support the planning, coordination, hosting, and execution of community initiatives and events from initial opportunity identification through completion.
    • Work with community organizations, businesses, chambers, employers, healthcare organizations, schools, nonprofit organizations, and other potential partners to identify opportunities for Apex Skin to increase its presence within the communities it serves.
    • Assist with event logistics, marketing materials, staffing coordination, promotional needs, registration, supplies, and other details necessary for successful execution.
    • Represent and support Apex Skin at community events, including events that may occur outside of standard business hours when needed.
    • Partner with Business Development, Community Engagement, Operations, providers, and other internal teams to ensure community initiatives align with organizational and market growth priorities.
    • Identify opportunities to connect community engagement activities to patient education, new patient acquisition, provider growth, service awareness, and long-term community relationships.
    • Track participation and outcomes of community initiatives and help evaluate their effectiveness, including patient opportunities, appointments generated, leads, partnerships developed, brand exposure, and other measurable results when available.

Patient Acquisition and Growth

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies designed to generate new patient appointments and increase utilization of priority providers, locations, and services.
  • Identify and understand target patient audiences and develop campaigns that move prospective patients from awareness and consideration to appointment scheduling.
  • Monitor patient acquisition efforts and identify opportunities to improve campaign performance, appointment generation, and conversion.
  • Recognize underperforming campaigns or emerging growth opportunities and recommend strategies to improve results.

Provider and Location Marketing

  • Develop and execute marketing initiatives supporting new and existing Apex Skin providers and locations.
  • Support provider launches, provider awareness campaigns, location-specific marketing, service introductions, growth initiatives, and targeted campaigns designed to increase patient volume.
  • Collaborate with Operations, providers, and clinical leadership to understand provider capacity, growth priorities, patient demand, and market-specific opportunities.
  • Develop targeted marketing strategies based on the needs and opportunities of individual providers, locations, and markets while maintaining alignment with the broader Apex Skin brand.

Service-Line Marketing

  • Develop marketing initiatives supporting medical dermatology and Mohs surgery, and other organizational priorities.
  • Create targeted strategies and messaging appropriate for different patient audiences, services, and stages of the patient journey.
  • Ensure campaigns clearly communicate patient benefits while maintaining clinical accuracy, appropriate healthcare messaging, and Apex Skin brand standards.

Content Development

  • Develop and edit patient-facing marketing content for advertisements, brochures, flyers, provider materials, patient communications, campaigns, signage, promotional materials, community events, and other marketing needs.
  • Translate healthcare information into clear, engaging, patient-friendly communications while maintaining appropriate clinical accuracy.
  • Maintain a consistent Apex Skin brand voice and messaging across marketing communications.

Patient Acquisition Experience

  • Understand the patient marketing journey from initial awareness and consideration through appointment scheduling and ongoing engagement.
  • Identify opportunities to improve how patients learn about Apex Skin, its providers, locations, and services.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Operations, and other departments to ensure marketing initiatives support a positive and consistent patient experience.

Brand Management

  • Protect and strengthen the Apex Skin brand across all assigned marketing and community initiatives.
  • Maintain consistency in messaging, visual identity, patient communications, community representation, and organizational positioning.
  • Ensure individual provider, location, campaign, service-line, and community marketing efforts strengthen and support the broader Apex Skin brand.

Marketing Project Management

  • Manage multiple marketing and community initiatives simultaneously while maintaining strong organization, attention to detail, and accountability for deadlines.
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, approvals, vendors, creative requests, campaign launches, print production, promotional materials, event needs, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Proactively communicate project status, identify potential barriers, and work collaboratively to keep initiatives moving toward successful completion.

Marketing Analytics and ROI

  • Track and report the performance of marketing campaigns and community initiatives using available patient acquisition, scheduling, referral, campaign, event, and organizational data.
  • Monitor appropriate performance indicators such as new patient acquisition, appointment generation, campaign leads, provider utilization, service-line growth, community engagement, campaign response, and return on marketing investment where measurable.
  • Analyze performance beyond basic reporting to identify trends, opportunities, and areas requiring improvement.
  • Translate marketing data into actionable recommendations and use performance insights to improve future initiatives and marketing investments.

Market and Competitive Analysis

  • Monitor dermatology marketing trends, competitive activity, patient behavior, community opportunities, and changes within the markets Apex Skin serves.
  • Identify opportunities that could strengthen patient acquisition, brand visibility, provider growth, community engagement, or organizational performance.
  • Bring forward new ideas and recommendations based on market insights, campaign performance, competitive activity, community relationships, and evolving patient needs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Business Development, Community Engagement, Operations, providers, clinical leadership, external partners, vendors, and other organizational stakeholders.
  • Translate organizational priorities and growth opportunities into effective marketing and community initiatives.
  • Maintain strong communication across departments to ensure initiatives are aligned with operational capabilities, clinical priorities, and organizational objectives.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Proactively identify new marketing strategies, community opportunities, partnerships, programs, and processes that could improve marketing effectiveness and organizational visibility.
  • Regularly evaluate campaign and community initiative performance to understand what is working, what is not working, and where improvements can be made.
  • Bring forward ideas and recommendations rather than relying exclusively on assigned marketing requests or existing strategies.

Healthcare Marketing Standards

  • Ensure marketing communications and community initiatives maintain appropriate healthcare marketing, patient privacy, HIPAA, regulatory, and organizational standards where applicable.
  • Ensure marketing claims and patient communications are accurate, supportable, patient-friendly, and consistent with approved Apex Skin messaging and brand standards.

Qualifications

  • Approximately three or more years of relevant marketing, community engagement, communications, or related experience, preferably within healthcare, dermatology, medical practices, multi-location healthcare, or another consumer-focused industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field preferred. Equivalent professional experience demonstrating the required capabilities will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing marketing campaigns, community initiatives, events, or related programs.
  • Strong project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, events, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong writing, editing, and proofreading capabilities.
  • Experience developing marketing collateral, patient communications, advertisements, promotional materials, event materials, or similar marketing content.
  • Experience coordinating with community partners, creative partners, printers, vendors, media partners, and other external resources preferred.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with community organizations, partners, providers, employees, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret marketing and community initiative performance and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical, operational, creative, marketing, business development, and executive stakeholders.
  • Creative mindset balanced with strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Healthcare or dermatology marketing experience preferred but not required for candidates with strong transferable experience.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a professional office and clinical environment, with occasional community event or off-site settings.
  • Regular use of a computer, phone, marketing systems, and standard office equipment is required.
  • Position may require occasional local travel to Apex Skin locations, community events, vendor meetings, or partner activities.
  • Occasional evening or weekend attendance may be required based on marketing campaigns, community events, or organizational needs.
  • Requires professional interaction with patients, providers, employees, community partners, vendors, and organizational leaders.
