Dermatology Clinical Nurse Specialist – Minor Operations (MoPs Levels 1–4)

Contract: Locum / Part-time / Flexible sessions
Location: Various NHS partner sites
Working Pattern: Weekday and weekend opportunities

About the role

SAH Diagnostics works in partnership with NHS Trusts to provide additional clinical capacity through insourcing and outsourcing services. We are seeking experienced Dermatology Clinical Nurse Specialists to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality minor operative procedures across MoPs Levels 1–4.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform dermatology minor operative procedures within demonstrated competence.
  • Assess patients and complete informed consent, identity, and procedural safety checks.
  • Administer local anaesthetic within professional competence and local policy.
  • Maintain aseptic technique and provide appropriate wound care and patient advice.
  • Recognise and manage complications, escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Label and submit specimens correctly for histopathology.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records using the NHS Trust’s systems.
  • Follow safeguarding, infection prevention, and clinical governance requirements.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centred care.

Essential requirements

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Relevant dermatology and minor skin surgery experience.
  • Evidence of assessed competencies in performing minor operations.
  • Ability to demonstrate competence at the relevant MoPs Levels 1–4.
  • Competence in patient assessment, informed consent, local anaesthetic administration, aseptic technique, and wound management.
  • Up-to-date mandatory training, including Basic Life Support.
  • Ability to work independently within an agreed scope of practice.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and satisfactory enhanced DBS clearance.
