Dermatology Surgical Healthcare Assistant (HCA)
Days: Saturday & Sunday
Hours: 08:00 – 18:00
About The Role
We are currently seeking experienced Dermatology Surgical Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) to support weekend insourcing lists, helping deliver NHS waiting list initiatives across a range of dermatology surgical services, including Minor Operations and Complex Minor Operations.
This is an excellent opportunity to join experienced teams delivering high-quality patient care within busy surgical settings, supporting clinicians and patients throughout their treatment journey.
Requirements
To be considered, you must:
- Have recent, hands-on experience supporting dermatology surgical lists
- Have been actively undertaking this work for at least 6 months within the past 12 months
You will also have:
- Experience working as a Healthcare Assistant within an NHS dermatology surgical setting
- Experience assisting with minor surgical procedures
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Organisational skills and attention to detail
- A patient-focused approach with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include supporting with:
- Preparing treatment rooms and surgical equipment
- Assisting clinicians during Minor Operations and Complex Minor Operations
- Preparing patients for procedures and providing reassurance throughout their treatment
- Chaperoning patients during consultations and surgical procedures
- Recording patient observations where required
- Maintaining aseptic techniques and infection prevention standards
- Assisting with specimen handling and documentation
- Supporting patient flow throughout surgical lists
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and records
- Ensuring clinics run safely, efficiently, and in line with local policies and procedures
- Maintaining high standards of patient care, dignity, and confidentiality
