We are currently seeking experienced Dermatology Surgical Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) to support weekend insourcing clinics, helping deliver NHS waiting list initiatives across a range of dermatology services.
This is an excellent opportunity to join experienced teams delivering high-quality patient care within busy outpatient settings, supporting clinicians and patients throughout their clinic journey.
Requirements
To be considered, you must:
- Have recent, hands-on experience supporting dermatology theatres
- Have been actively undertaking this work for at least 6 months within the past 12 months
You will also have:
- Experience working as a Healthcare Assistant within an NHS dermatology theatre setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Organisational skills and attention to detail
- A patient-focused approach with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include supporting with:
- Pre-operative assessment
- Preparing for dermatological surgery
- Intra-operative assistance
- Assist the dermatologist, dermatological surgeon or other clinician during procedures such as:
- Skin biopsies
- Excision of skin lesions
- Curettage and cautery
- Punch biopsies
- Minor skin cancer procedures
- Mohs surgery, where applicable
- Maintain aseptic technique and a safe sterile field.
- Handle instruments and specimens appropriately.
- Monitor the patient’s condition and provide reassurance throughout the procedure.
- Recognise and respond promptly to complications
- Specimen management
- Post-operative care
- Patient education and support
- Medicines and local anaesthetics
- Documentation and clinical governance
- Team working
