Job Title: Design Assistant

Department: Design

Reporting to: Senior Designer

Contract type: 20 hours per week - ideally Monday, Wednesday & Thursday

Location: The Fold’s Head office in Bermondsey. 3 days per week in the office

Role Overview

Working alongside experienced designers to provide support through the full design process, from initial design to production. This role will provide a great insight into the workings of a design led fashion house, the roles of the different functions and the design team process.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a recent graduate, aspiring designer, or someone looking to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and creative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help update and maintain monthly line ups using photoshop to colour and cad up sketches
  • Assist design team with creating tech packs
  • Create parcels for London seamstress that include the pattern, fabric and reference sample
  • Make sure lab dips, strike offs and any relevant markers are pulled and with correct garments for product meetings
  • Tidy up after product meetings; ensuring product is put away in the correct area, lab dips and strike offs are filed away
  • Organise the fabric rolls in atelier.
  • Organise design folders: colours standards, lab dips, strike offs, month by month fabric folder
  • Assist with seasonal sample, fabric archiving and stock management
  • Send out colour standards to factories and mills
  • Assisting with flat drawings
  • Sending out parcels to factories / mills
  • Help prepare and set up for meetings
  • Assist finding colour standards
  • Design research

About You

  • Genuine passion for fashion design - particularly in tailoring & luxury fashion
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Team player who collaborates with ease
  • Strong organiser who prioritises with ease and understand the importance of excellent time management
  • Demonstrates a ‘can do’ attitude to work
  • The ability to analyse problems and offer solutions
  • Attention to detail is key as this is a fast-paced role, so a sharp eye is essential
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Skilled in photoshop
  • Experience using Adobe Illustrator
