Role

The Design Assurance Coordinator (DAC) is responsible for collecting and presenting data for several design or construction packages to ensure project requirements are met and documented. They will also support the design management team in implementing the review and assurance process for their packages, ensuring that all parties have completed their actions in accordance with the programme.

The DAC will also provide day-to-day coordination and administrative support to Design Managers and Design Leads, contributing to effective information management, reporting and closure of technical matters across their allocated packages.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain a range of trackers to monitor the status of deliverables within the design review and assurance process, using SCS document management systems (including EMT, AssetWise, eB and others as required).
  • Record and manage the appropriate versions of deliverables within L3 Single Assurance Packs, ensuring accuracy and traceability.
  • Support design reviews by scheduling review activities, notifying reviewers in advance, monitoring completion, chasing closure of comments, and coordinating with Document Control to enable processing and coding of deliverables once reviews are complete.
  • Track and manage asset-specific technical information, including Requests for Information (RFIs), Departures, Non-Conformance Records (NCRs) and Field Change Documents (FCDs).
  • Organise meetings and reviews, including identifying suitable meeting times, issuing invitations, taking minutes and following up agreed actions.
  • Support certification activities for work packages seeking L3 certification from HS2, including drafting and compiling documentation using established templates and previous examples.
  • Support in weekly/monthly project reports.
  • Contribute to weekly and monthly project reporting.
  • Provide ad-hoc support and holiday/absence cover for Design Managers and Design Leads, as required.

  • Strong information management and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly identify and extract relevant information from large volumes of project data.
  • A high standard of verbal and written communication, with the ability to build positive working relationships across multidisciplinary and diverse teams.
  • Experience in using, or the ability to quickly learn, project information management systems and tools, including MS Office and web-based collaboration platforms such as AssetWise, eB, ProjectWise or similar.
  • HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a construction-related discipline.
  • Experience gained within a Contractor, Designer or Client environment on projects of a similar scale and complexity, gained through employment, placements or comparable professional experience.
  • Knowledge of technical processes, including design assurance, with a willingness to continue learning and developing in the role.
  • Must hold, or be able to obtain prior to commencement of employment, a valid CSCS Card in an appropriate category (e.g. Professionally Qualified Person or Manager). Support will be provided where reasonable.

About The Company

The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services.

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
