Role: Design Assurance Quality Engineer – New Product Development

Location: Europe (Open to Location) – Remote Worker with ad hoc travel

The Job:

The Design Assurance Quality Engineer supports new product development activities by ensuring quality is built into product design, development, system, verification, validation, and launch processes. This role partners cross-functionally with engineering, R&D, manufacturing, sourcing, and regulatory/compliance teams to identify risks early, implement robust controls, and ensure new products meet customer, business, and applicable quality requirements.

The position plays a key role in design quality planning and strategy, risk management, design reviews, and verification and validation support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Quality subject matter expert within cross-functional New Product Development (NPD) teams.
  • Embed quality requirements throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept through commercialization.
  • Lead quality planning activities, including Design Quality Plans, Control Plans, inspection strategies, and defect prevention initiatives.
  • Drive risk management through DFMEA, PFMEA, hazard analysis, FRACA, and robust mitigation planning.
  • Facilitate design and process reviews, ensuring quality, reliability, and customer requirements are built into product designs.
  • Develop and execute verification and validation strategies to ensure products meet critical-to-quality (CTQ) requirements.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supplier Quality teams to ensure successful design transfer and production readiness.
  • Lead structured problem-solving, root cause analysis, and corrective actions during product development and launch.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality systems, industry standards, APQP requirements, and change control processes.
  • Use data, statistical methods, and lessons learned to monitor quality performance and drive continuous improvement across NPD projects.

The Person:

You love to learn and grow and be acknowledged for your valuable contributions. You’re not intimidated by innovation. In fact, you embrace it. Wouldn’t it be great if you could do your job and do a world of good? You also have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience in quality engineering, design assurance, new product development and well-established NPD systems.
  • Proven experience driving Continuous Improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma or equivalent quality methodologies.
  • Experience using quality and product data systems such as Minitab, PLM, ERP, or QMS platforms.
  • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, design controls, and product lifecycle management processes.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Lean Six Sigma, or similar certification.
  • Effective English written and verbal communication skills.
