Design Authority

United Infrastructure is looking for an experienced Design Authority to provide technical leadership and engineering support across telecoms infrastructure projects. The role will ensure designs meet operator requirements, industry standards, and project-specific specifications, while supporting delivery teams from initial design through to construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and support the preparation of telecoms site designs in line with operator standards, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Produce and review 2D CAD planning and construction drawings, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance.
  • Provide technical and engineering input to designers, project managers, and delivery teams.
  • Review designs and identify technical issues, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Make recommendations for further investigations, surveys, and enabling works where required.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for clients, operators, designers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Liaise with clients and project teams to develop practical, compliant, and cost-effective design solutions.
  • Support the resolution of design and technical queries throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure designs and technical outputs are delivered to agreed timescales and quality standards.

  • Experience in telecoms, infrastructure, or network design.
  • Strong understanding of telecoms site design and construction requirements.
  • Competent in AutoCAD/2D CAD and technical drawing production.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and operator requirements.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across design, engineering, and delivery teams.
