Director of Product Design
We are partnering with a successful, digital consumer business to appoint a Director of Product Design. The organisation has built an established ecommerce and mobile presence and is now entering the next stage of its product and customer experience journey.
This is a significant leadership appointment with ownership of digital product design across web, mobile app and customer lifecycle communications.

Description
Design vision and ownership
- Own digital product design, UI/UX and email design across two consumer brands.
- Define and maintain a clear design vision, customer experience strategy and quality standard.
- Create a cohesive experience across responsive web, mobile app and customer communications.
Commercial and customer impact
- Work with the Director of Product and other senior stakeholders to support the achievement of revenue and customer goals.
- Identify opportunities to improve conversion, retention, revenue, margin, customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Customer research and validation
- Establish a disciplined approach to customer research, usability testing and experience validation.
- Train the team to use behavioural data, customer feedback, support insight, competitive analysis and experimentation to inform decisions.
AI enablement and design innovation
- Act as the senior champion for the effective adoption of AI within the design function.
- Define how AI can improve design quality, speed, prototyping and team productivity.
- Develop and maintain a design system that supports AI-enabled, high-fidelity design and prototyping.
Profile
- Experience in digital product design, including substantial UI and UX responsibility.
- At least four years of experience leading and developing multidisciplinary design teams.
- Experience owning design within a sophisticated DTC, ecommerce, mobile or consumer technology environment.
- A strong understanding of visually led categories such as luxury, beauty, fashion, lifestyle or premium consumer goods.
- Experience managing design activity focused on acquisition and conversion-rate optimisation.
- Experience improving retention, lifecycle engagement or customer value would be particularly advantageous.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking, visual quality and hands-on execution.
- Evidence of improving conversion, retention, revenue, customer satisfaction or another measurable business outcome.
- Strong knowledge of mobile-first and responsive web design.
- Experience leading email, CRM, lifecycle or growth design would be beneficial.
- Advanced proficiency in Figma and contemporary prototyping tools.
