What You Would Do

Typical responsibilities could include:

  • Contributing to the design and development of mechanical, electrical or control systems from initial concept through to production
  • Supporting the creation of design documentation, drawings, specifications and technical reports to ISO 9001 standards
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality assurance and project management to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet requirements
  • Participating in design reviews, tolerance analysis and failure mode assessment
  • Supporting prototype development and testing activities
  • Liaising with suppliers and external partners on component specifications and technical queries
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and design process refinement

What You Could Bring

Most roles of this type require the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Controls or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in CAD software (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of design principles, tolerance analysis and GD&T
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management standards
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving
  • Authorization to work in the United Kingdom

Nice-to-have experience could include:

  • Experience in regulated industries or ISO 13485 (medical device) environments
  • Knowledge of FEA (Finite Element Analysis) or simulation tools
  • Experience with design failure analysis or FMEA
  • Project management or Agile experience
  • Additional certifications in quality or design engineering
