Design Engineer – Aircraft Cabin Products
Create products that become part of the passenger experience.
At Collins Aerospace, you’ll turn customer requirements into bespoke products for the cabins of commercial and private aircraft. From early CAD concepts and prototypes through qualification and approved drawings, your work will help deliver reliable, high-quality designs ready for manufacture and installation.

What you’ll do
- Develop bespoke product designs that meet customer specifications, quality expectations and delivery timescales.
- Create 2D and 3D CAD models in SolidWorks, along with drawings and bills of materials managed through PDM.
- Design parts and assemblies involving moulding, sheet metal, machining, cables and PCB integration.
- Produce 3D printed prototypes and take a hands-on role in prototype builds.
- Prepare test solutions and documentation to support product qualification.
- Work with programme management, customers, suppliers and internal teams to gather the information needed to progress each design.
- Update drawings and documents in response to reviews from colleagues, customers and certification authorities.
- Check drawings and documentation for accuracy and completeness, and take part in design reviews and meetings. Some offsite travel may be required.

What you’ll bring
- A degree, HNC or HND in a relevant engineering subject, with at least two years of relevant design experience in an engineering environment.
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or a similar CAD package.
- An understanding of manufacturing and finishing methods, design review processes and configuration management.
- The ability to make progress when requirements are incomplete, find the information you need and deliver to tight deadlines.
- Careful attention to detail, confidence working independently and the ability to collaborate with people across the business.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience in aerospace, aviation, marine or a similar industry is valuable. Familiarity with aircraft qualification standards such as D6-36440, RTCA/DO-160 or ABD0100.1.2 would be an advantage.
