Office Angels are delighted to be partnering with a leading specialist engineering business to recruit a Design Engineer for their growing Aberdeen team.
This role would particularly suit a graduate engineer or someone with around one year's industry experience who is looking to take the next step in their career. The Opportunity
As a Design Engineer, you'll be entrusted with managing multiple projects simultaneously, transforming customer requirements and fire strategies into innovative, compliant, and high-quality system designs.
This is a hands-on role where you'll have the opportunity to influence project outcomes, solve technical challenges, and build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders throughout the design process.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop fire alarm and smoke ventilation system designs from customer specifications and fire strategies
- Produce design specifications and supporting technical documentation
- Carry out engineering calculations to validate system performance and compliance
- Create and revise detailed AutoCAD drawings and design packages
- Maintain accurate project documentation and design status records
- Provide technical support and respond to customer design queries
- Attend project handover meetings and collaborate with internal teams
- Participate in customer meetings, design reviews, and technical discussions
- Work closely with project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery

About You
You'll be a proactive and technically capable engineer who enjoys problem-solving, managing projects, and working collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 1 year's experience
- Degree-qualified or completed an engineering apprenticeship
- Proficient in AutoCAD for 2D design
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of mechanical and natural smoke control systems
- Experience with car park smoke clearance systems
- Understanding of fire detection and alarm systems
- Experience within electrical, HVAC, or building services design (desirable)
- Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS), controls theory, and control systems
