Join Our Team as a Design Engineer

Balmoral Tanks Ltd is a market-leading engineering organisation, delivering high-quality storage solutions across the UK and internationally.

We are seeking a talented Design Engineer, based at our Thurnscoe office. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on producing high-quality, accurate designs and drawings to support the manufacture and installation of tank solutions.

You will work closely with internal teams and external clients, supporting projects from design approval through to manufacture and construction, ensuring designs meet industry standards, health & safety requirements and customer expectations.

As a Design Engineer, You Will

  • Produce accurate, detailed and to-scale 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD, including tank general arrangements, sheet projections/CNC drawings, access steelwork and roof structures
  • Manage and control drawings through Vault, liaising with Sales and Contracts teams as required
  • Apply engineering principles and material knowledge to assess feasibility of manufacture and construction
  • Prepare manufacturing lists for assigned projects
  • Liaise with Contracts Managers, site personnel and installation teams to advise on construction and installation technicalities
  • Work closely with production planning and manufacturing teams on fabrication details
  • Attend internal and client design review meetings when required
  • Maintain a safe working environment in line with company policies and procedures

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • GCSEs (Maths, English, Science, Technology) or relevant CAD-related BTEC/City & Guilds.
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor (iLogic advantageous), AutoCAD, and Vault Pro.
  • Degree in an engineering or design-related discipline

Experience

  • Strong use of CAD systems and engineering software.
  • Experience working to tight deadlines and engaging with customers.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong organisational and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings confidently.
  • Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Innovative, commercially aware, and eager to develop professionally.
  • Highly computer literate (Excel, Word, and engineering tools).
