Hays Engineering are delighted to be partnering with a well-established and innovative manufacturing business to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer for their growing engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a market-leading manufacturer supplying specialist equipment to customers across the UK, Ireland, and international markets. Working within a collaborative engineering environment, you will play a key role in the design and development of bespoke mechanical products from concept through to manufacture.
The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be involved in the full design lifecycle, working closely with production, procurement, and other engineering functions to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Developing detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks
- Designing bespoke mechanical equipment and fabricated assemblies
- Producing detailed BOMs and engineering documentation
- Supporting projects from concept design through to production release
- Liaising with production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective
- Assisting with product improvements and continuous improvement initiatives
- Supporting prototype builds, testing, and product development activities

What We're Looking For
- Strong experience using SolidWorks (Essential)
- HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design Engineering
- Experience designing mechanical components, machinery, or fabricated assemblies
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including fabrication, machining, and assembly
- Ability to produce accurate engineering drawings and BOMs
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
