PE Global is currently recruiting for an experienced Design Engineer to join our engineering client based in Peterborough. The role is an initial 12-month contract and the rate for this role is £27.00 p/hour PAYE or £36.65 p/hour Umbrella.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support concept and detailed design activities for electrified machine systems and subsystems.
  • Create and maintain engineering models, drawings and supporting design documentation using Creo.
  • Support mechanical packaging, electrical integration and machine-level design activities.
  • Work closely with project, build and validation teams throughout the development process.
  • Investigate technical issues and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Participate in design reviews, prototype builds and engineering change activities.
  • Support machine build, commissioning, testing and validation programmes.
  • Work across multiple projects and priorities within a fast-paced development environment.

Requirements

  • Mechanical design experience within a product development environment.
  • Electrical design and integration experience, ideally within automotive, off-highway, heavy-duty equipment, industrial machinery or electrification.
  • Proficiency in Creo and experience creating engineering models, drawings and design documentation.
  • Experience working on prototype, demonstrator or pre-production products is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Pragmatic, hands-on approach with the ability to take ownership of tasks with limited supervision.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Degree or relevant engineering qualification is desirable.

Additional Information

  • Location: Peterborough
  • Working hours: 37 hours per week
  • Working pattern: Fully onsite, 5 days per week
  • Travel: Approximately 25% may be required
  • Contract: Initial 12 months, with potential to extend
  • Start date: 1st October
  • Team: Approximately 10 people, including permanent employees and agency contractors
  • Interview: Approximately 1 hour, with a technical and STAR-based format; potentially F2F with a follow-up F2F
