Role Description

The Design Engineer role is a full-time position based in Yeadon, Leeds. Responsible for designing and developing textile-based implantable devices and instrumentation by translating clinical and customer requirements into robust product concepts and specifications. Day-to-day tasks include generating and refining CAD models and technical drawings, collaborating with cross-functional teams such as R&D, manufacturing, regulatory, and quality. The individual will support product testing and validation activities, document design processes in line with medical device standards, and contribute to continuous improvement of existing products.

Qualifications

  • Good degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings.
  • Experience in medical devices, (preferably orthopaedics).
  • Project management skills.
  • Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 13485, MDR) and strong attention to detail in documentation and quality.
